Stingy
$15 million. That's what the US wanted to pony up for disaster relief after this weekend's earthquake/tsunami double whammy.
Then somebody from the UN was all like "Hey, that's pretty stingy!" and Colin Powell had to put his good suit on and go on the morning talk show circuit and say "nuh-uh." And then they looked in the sofa and came up with another $20 million. That'll show the world we're not stingy! $35 million is a lot of money.
Out of random curiosity I googled the amount in the FY 2005 budget for "Abstinence Education." $270 million. Just FYI
At least 44,000 people are dead. Milions and millions more have had everything in their lives destroyed.
Too bad there isn't a lot of oil in Sri Lanka and Sumatra, I guess. $35 million vs $86 billion in Iraq. Okay.
