Bored and fearful
Bored bored bored bored bored.

[info]alicelaughed, our admin and my partner in crime here, is on vacation to England for a week. While I wish her well, I hate her with the burning passion of a thousand burning passionate things. Starting now and running through January is the big application season for us. I'm going to be utterly swamped by mail. I have a number of other projects I should be working on. But I don't want to. I fear the coming of the mail.

We've got a new guy starting on Monday (sorry, [info]mgrasso). Have to see how he shakes out. I got a heavy geek/gamer vibe off him at the interview so I'm hopeful we'll get along (too lazy to link to the Geek Fallacies page). But in the meantime there's nowhere for him to sit. Facilities is supposed to come in and build a new desk, turning my respectable 2-person (me + 1 part timer) office into a cozy 3 person space. grr.

[info]aliwings had to go to the overnight sleep lab last night to get stuck with electrodes and see if her new Vader-esque breathing pump is making a difference. I always feel kinda off after a night when she's not home. And then the General decided to start talking (to his stuffies? in his sleep? who knows) at 4AM, which caused me to bolt upright and not be able to get back to sleep. He, however, fell back to sleep and I had to pretty much light him on fire to get him up and out the door this morning (Dear DSS, I'm kidding about the fire thing. But I did cover him with fire ants. That's okay, right? Love h58).

Have to get to Comicopia at lunch. Last issue of Identity Crisis is out today, as is the first TPB of Joss Whedon's X-Men. Shouldn't spend money on comics right now but, you know, fuck it.

bored bored bored. Nothing interesting on LJ. don't want to face the horrible work I have to do. Entertain me. Or I'll be forced to babble more.

It looks like they weren't kidding about the "overqualified" thing. This guy is 2 years out of college and has been working as a tech writer. I know it doesn't necessarily make you feel any better but at least they were honest about it rather than just not liking you for some nebulous reason.

Hey, I know that two weeks into working with each other, we'd be at each other's throats. :) Probably better off it didn't happen on that regard as well. No worries. :)

True that, but I still feel a little bad talking about it. It's like when there's this girl you like but she says no and then starts dating a friend and the friend just won't shut up about what a wildcat she is in bed and...

I'm probably not making this any better. Shutting up now.

Oooh, I hate the "overqualified" reason. Like someone who isn't merely "qualified" won't take the job, use it to get some experience and move on just as fast as someone who got bored.

ALl is explained! He was talking with the Mouse, who was also up singing at that hour.

I thought they were supposed to become teenagers before they had boys calling at all hours of the night. And I feel very bad for poor Mr. Froggie Pants, who cannot really hope to compete with a big handsome three-year-old just yet. (Unless I'm wrong. [info]amanachaidh? [info]sapphireone? Any vigorous speech acts somtime around four last night?)

If there was, I really don't want to know about it. The idea of a Telepathic Long-Distance Conspiracy of Pre-Verbal Children is a bit more than I can handle with the number of SAN points I've got left today.

You're standing in front of a ten foot by ten foot room. There is a chest guarding a goblin.

It's kind of gooey and sticky, but it looks remarkably like the Christmas Spirit. As it rises it drips foul and loathesome ichor. It is also squamish.

Hackey-sacks are ideal for this. Or tangerines.

Or minions, so long as they don't mind being dropped a lot.

I think he's too heavy to juggle.

I could juggle him with my telecatnetic powers, but that would be showing off, wouldn't it?
